Attorneys at Law

Metcalf, Thompson & Phipps was established in Northwest Iowa in the 1940's. The founders of the firm, William C. Creasey and Glenn C. Metcalf, Jr. opened offices first in Kingsley then in Moville, Iowa. Barry Thompson, now the senior partner, joined the firm in 1973. Mr. Barry Thompson is licensed to practice in Iowa and South Dakota and practices in the areas of real estate, tax, probate and municipal law. In 1982, Patrick J. Phipps joined the firm. Mr. Phipps is licensed to practice in Iowa and Nebraska. He practices primarlily in the area of personal injury law. Glenn A. Metcalf joined the firm in 1986. Mr. Metcalf practices in bankruptcy, tax and municipal law.

In 1993, the firm opened an additional office in Remsen, Iowa. Jeffrey Kuchel joined the firm in 1996, he practices in municipal law and family law. In 2000, Barry Thompson's son Chad Thompson joined the firm. Mr. Chad Thompson is licensed to practice in Iowa and Nebraska. Jay Phipps has lived in Moville his entire life and joined the firm in 2006. As the newest and youngest member of the firm Jay represents our commitment to providing continuing legal service to the communities we serve.

The firm's offices are in Moville, Kingsley, and Remsen. Metcalf, Thompson & Phipps offers a broad range of legal service. The attorneys are complemented by an excellent support staff consisting of five legal secretaries and two paralegals. The attorneys are members of local and state bar associations; and active in community and church organizations.
